Family Crest DesignMay 14th, 2010

This was my first full vector project using Illustrator CS5 – this graphic is 100% vector with no PS fix ups so is infinitely scalable (take THAT 300dpi!). You can click the image below for an even bigger view.

I absolutely love CS5. It’s such a step up from CS4. The new “draw inside” (read: FH’s Paste Inside) is process-changing and really does enable a lot more flexibility.

This was my first attempt at a family crest… and I think it turned out pretty well. The surrounding fabric is referenced heavily from the Grand Royal Coat of Arms of France. See {HERE}

Twitter Background Design – Walking with AttitudeMay 6th, 2010

I finally jumped the fence and joined Twitter last week (you can follow me via: My Twitter Account). I spent a good deal of time researching how to set up a background for myself as I’m all for branding and customisation. A few days later I got an email from the ladies from Walking with Attitude chasing a background for their new Twitter account. What perfect timing!

You can check it out here: Walking with Attitude on Twitter

The templates are a little tricky. You can only set a single background image which has to work for every browser size (from tiny tiny netbooks to very large widescreens). It takes a bit of tweaking of the background elements to make it work, but I think we acheived a great result!

RDD and the Big StormApril 30th, 2010

The warehouse at RDD was one of the big losers in the “Big Storm of 2010″. The front rooms flooded completely.. walls needed to be ripped out and much stock was lost. Rosanne – being the opportunistic type, decided to make this her chance to do a full front renovation. The shop is now freaking amazing -polished concrete floors and some really cool kooky stock (including a beautiful cow-hide chest I have my eye on)

Get in there and check it out if you are in the area.

There’s also another stock launch night coming up – with very very limited places, so get in contact quickly to ensure you reserve your spot.

eBay Template Design – Babies R ItApril 6th, 2010

This eBay template design for Babies R It was designed to be Auctiva compatible – so is completely client editable.

You can see a working example of the eBay template here: Babies R It Template

If you have a baby, are having a baby, or KNOW someone having a baby – I recommend having a read of the product features. It’s pretty amazing… a self-heating baby bottle that works without any harmful chemicals.

Illustration Exp. 2 – Forest ThingMarch 15th, 2010

I’m a big fan of the “Stumble” toolbar. It’s an easy way to find amazing resources, ideas and inspiration. Using it, I have come across an illustration technique that I needed to try – putting little monsters into real photos to get a weird blend of the real and surreal.

I did this yesterday as an experiment for myself and had a lot of fun doing so. It sure beats housework.

GC Wheels eBay Template DesignMarch 9th, 2010

It’s not all flowers and pretty patterns here. This template is to appeal to people who love wheels. A lot. (Mind you, the rims are pretty impressive, and even me, with my relatively plain Ford Focus am wondering if I should pimp my ride).

You can find a working example of this template here: GC Wheels eBay Template

If your in the market for some new wheels, the range that these guys stock is very very impressive. Definitely check them out !

Gold Coast Beach eBay Template DesignMarch 9th, 2010

If you haven’t yet figured, I’m an animal nut – so when I got the brief for this eBay template I couldn’t wait to get started. Gold Coast Beach is an eBay store run by a (lovely!) Jack Russell breeder, so I was going to get to feature some of them in the design.

The brief

  • Jewel blue or aqua waves/ocean scene.
  • Some palm trees or bougainvillea.
  • Very “beach” looking.
  • Featuring Jack Russells

The end result:

You can see a working example here: Gold Coast Beach Listing

This template has been designed for use in Auctiva. Auctiva is a little tricky to work with, particularly when creating a template that features a lot of images – but the ease of item listing makes it a great asset to those running a lot of different products at once.

HealthyChart Design Work – Products Coming SoonMarch 5th, 2010

I’ve been working with Margaret from HealthyChart for a few months now, designing and creating her concept products.

These magnets help parents to motivate their children to exercise, eat healthily and drink enough water in a way that’s fun and family friendly. You can read more about it here (you can also register your interest to order via sending Margaret an email). Healthy Chart Website

We’ve worked together to design everything from the ground up, from the logo through to the magnets and product packaging. It’s been an exciting project to work on and I can’t wait to see the first lot of samples which should be hit my mailbox this week.

There are two sets – one for children 4 – 7, another for the 8 – 11 year olds.

Each set comes with all the magnets that you see below. Each set comes with 108 tiles.

This is the A4 instruction card that goes in with the magnets:

I’m a huge bright colour fan so this project was right up my ally.
